Programs of physical therapy

Developmental physical therapy program for infants

The program is created for children from birth up to the first year of life. It is aimed at harmonious and proper development of a child. Usually parents are trying to make everything for child, so that he/she could hold a head, turn, sit, and crawl and make first steps as soon as it is possible. However, it is not recommended to make him/her sit or put on legs untimely. During the program of developmental physical therapy, we stimulate a child to inquisition those skills independently, confidently and in time.

Intensive program of physical therapy

For children with Cerebral Palsy periodic physical therapy trainings are mandatory. They help to maintain and develop the physical condition of the child, as well as to prevent future symptoms of the disease. We advise you to undergo intensive physical therapy every two – three months. The peculiarity of this program is that we use dynamic load costume “Adeli”. When using this costume, child performs physical exercises and works on simulators of different types. Children can be trained with the help of costume from three years, sometimes earlier. It depends on height and build of a child. For each patient we individually select physical exercises in order to work on specific skills, that child has to develop. Intensive program of physical therapy is designed for long-term perspective, in order to observe child’s progress in dynamics. After a thorough examination of child’s motive sphere, we set goals and objectives for specific periods. For effectiveness, it is very important to continue trainings based on individualized home program between courses. Therefore, we spend a lot of time with the parents leading educational work.

Duration of the course: 12 days (18, 24 days – depends on child’s abilities).
Time Duration (of 1 training): 2 hours +massage for 30 minutes.

Aim of the program: development and improvement of basic motor functions, general physical strengthening of body, prevention of secondary complications, promotion of child’s independence at maximum level.

Indications: organic lesions of the Nervous System in pre – and perinatal period; Cerebral Palsy; after-effects of inflammatory diseases of the Nervous System, hereditary and degenerative diseases of Nervous System; effects of acute disorders of cerebral circulation and traumatic lesions of the Nervous System.
Comprehensive treatment: physical therapy: dynamic load suit “Adeli”, therapeutic physical culture, active and passive gymnastics, diagonal gymnastics, neuro-development therapy Bobath, PNF stretching, suspension therapy UGUL, vibrotherapy, massage; medicamental treatment; orthopedic tools.

Observations and consultations of: neurologist, pediatrician, physical therapist and if necessary, orthopedist and traumatologist.

Program of mobilizing gymnastics

Between courses of intensive program it is necessary to make a break from two to three months. However, during this period it is not advisable to forget about support of child’s physical condition. The program of mobilizing gymnastics is aimed at supporting of all functions, that we reached with child during the main course of intensive physical therapy. Consequently, the child will be able to come to the next intensive course in the same physical condition, which he/she had after the previous one. Accordingly, in the future they will be able to develop more affectively their physical abilities. Therefore, in addition to the proposed home program, we advise you to take a course of physical therapy, based on the program of mobilizing gymnastics.

Duration of the course: 10 days.
Time Duration (of 1 training): 1 hour.

Aim of the program: to support results of the main intensive program, normalize muscle tone, prevent contractures.

Indications: pre-course of intensive program of physical therapy.

Method of treatment: physical therapy: active and passive gymnastics, diagonal gymnastics, neuro-development therapy Bobath, PNF stretching.

Observations and consultations of: neurologist, pediatrician, physical therapist, orthopedist and traumatologist.

Program of physical therapy with orthopedic disorders

Lifestyle and many environmental factors can cause violations of proper child’s development. Long stay in the wrong position leads to abnormal development of spine – formation of pathological curves (scoliosis). This happens during game or children spends hours sitting at painting and sculpting in school, sitting at improper desk, often when playing on the computer. Improper shoes and inactivity leads to deformities of the feet (flatfeet) or progression of congenital deformities.

Duration of the course: 10 days.
Time Duration (of 1 training): 1 hour.

Aim of the program: to promote formation of correct posture, chest, foot arch and prophylaxis of secondary complications.

Indications: poor posture and chest deformity, arch violation, valgus or vorus position of the foot, torticollis.

Comprehensive treatment: physical therapy: therapeutic physical culture, vibrotherapy, suspension therapy UGUL, PNF stretching, therapeutic massages, orthopedic tools.

Observations and consultations of: orthopedist and traumatologist, physical therapist, pediatrician.

Preventive measures: recommendations for the workplace arrangement, on child’s shoes, mode of exercising.

Program of physical therapy after traumatic injuries

Children are mostly very active, that is why likelihood of injury increases. After healing of injured bones or soft tissues, it is necessary to start physical rehabilitation as quickly as it is possible. Improper restoration is a cause of prolonged decline in child’s physical activity. Therefore, you have to address specialists.

Duration of course: 10 days.
Time Duration (of 1 training): 1 hour.

Aim of the program: maximum recovery of injured limbs, staining of joints by increasing muscle strength, restoration of the correct pattern of movement and functions.

Indications: after-effects of broken bones, joints dislocation, soft tissue injuries (muscle, ligaments, tendons), consequences of surgery on the locomotor apparatus.

Comprehensive treatment: medicamental, physical therapy: therapeutic physical culture, active and passive gymnastics, PNF stretching, vibrotherapy, suspension therapy UGUL, massage therapy, orthopedic tools.

Observations and consultations of: orthopedist and traumatologist, physical therapist, pediatrician, ultrasonic specialist.

A physical therapy program for functional abnormalities of the breathing system

A child’s organism is most inclined to viral respiratory conditions, which are the key factor of inflammation of airways. Unreasonable therapy and functional properties of children’s breathing system can result in complications with manifestations of respiratory failure, progression of pneumonia and pleurisy. Such pathological conditions require special methods of intervention, most important of which is physical therapy.
Physical therapy for diseases of the breathing system is always used taking into account the general state of the patient and his functional capabilities. The organism of the small patient is maximally capable of recovery. Our aim is to assist it as much as possible.

Duration of course: 10 days.
Time Duration (of 1 training): 1 hour.

Program aim: to assist restoration of functioning of the breathing system, improvement of the general state, prevention of complications.

Indications: pulmonary engorgement, reduction of lung ventilation, atelectasis, presence of exudate, bronchial spasm, reduction of respiratory volume of lungs, obstruction of airways.

Comprehensive treatment: postural drainage, drainage massage, rehabilitative manipulative interventions, breathing exercises.

Observations and consultations of: physical therapist, pediatrician.

Preventive measures: breathing gymnastics routine.

Hand Therapy Programme

The Hand Therapy programme is directed at children who have difficulties with handling objects, self-service, writing, painting, and have hand sensitivity disorders. Hand therapy develops gross and fine motor skills, which consist of movements of the shoulder girdle, the upper limb in general, the wrist, the fingers, as well as the improvement of hand sensitivity. Specially designed exercises and games and massage of the upper limb facilitate the improvement of the work of the hand, train grasping objects, and bending and straightening the wrist and fingers. When the hand comes into contact with different materials and objects, it affects nervous cells which improves brain function and, consequently, promotes the development of cognitive processes (memory, attention, thinking) and speech.

1.* Program duration: 6-12 days.
Session duration: 30 minutes.

2. Program duration: 6-12 days.
Session duration: 1 hour.

Aim of the programme: improving the strength of hand muscles, developing gross and fine motor skills of the upper limbs, hand sensitivity, hand-eye coordination, cognitive processes, and speech.

Indications: CCP, CP resulting from injury, encephalitis, stroke, hereditary disorders, other traumatic injury of the brachial plexus or peripheral nerves of the upper limbs, delay of speech development, dyslexia, dysgraphia (difficulty writing).

Examinations and consultations: neurologist, physical therapist, psychologist.

*The programme is conducted in conjunction with other physical therapist programmes.

Note: before applying for a treatment, bring all the results of previous examinations.
